Dallas, TX – Doug Talley, CEO and John Riggins, President, announce the formation and launch of Talley Riggins Construction Group, a Plano-based general contracting firm specializing in commercial, healthcare, and institutional building projects. With nearly 50 years of combined general contracting experience, the partners have each worked for some of the most prestigious companies in the state, including top-level executive positions with two ENR Top 400 construction firms.
Where they plan to diverge from typical general contracting services is to offer a “partnership” culture with clients, employees and subcontractors. “Construction is not just steel and concrete – it’s about people and relationships,” said Talley. “Our approach to building and supporting the best team is to create an environment where they can enjoy their work and the people they are working with so they can perform at the highest level. Each project will be a collaboration between our management, higher-quality subcontractors with whom we have had long-term relationships, and our clients, which will foster better communication throughout the design and building process.” Talley has over 30-years experience in commercial construction and most recently served as president of MYCON. Prior to that, he served as president at Hill & Wilkinson. As CEO of Talley Riggins, he develops strategic growth plans, corporate values and client relationships while ensuring the successful delivery of all projects.
Both Talley and Riggins graduated from Texas Tech University. “Doug was my first boss at Hill & Wilkinson when I graduated from Texas Tech,” said Riggins. “Since then, we’ve worked together in various capacities for over 18 years and we’ve learned how critical trust and transparency is within our company, on the job site and to the relationships we have with our clients.” Riggins previously served as vice president of office and industrial services at MYCON and vice president of business development at CF Jordan Construction. As president of Talley Riggins, he is responsible for supporting the company’s strategic growth plans, financial goals and client relationship management.
“We began our first project as Talley Riggins Construction Group in mid-August 2018 and the momentum headed into 2019 has exceeded our expectations,” said Talley. By example, a national publishing company recently awarded the firm a challenging retrofit of an existing building in Arlington. Built in the 1980’s, the 18,000 square foot building was a lighting distributor’s warehouse that the client wants converted into a commercial print facility.
“The scope of work includes electrical upgrades, multiple chiller installations, dock equipment and interior finishes,” said Riggins. “Paper facilities, specifically print facilities, are very sensitive to relative humidity inside the building. You have to add dry steam humidifiers to help maintain the desired humidity levels.”
Talley Riggins performs extensive research, concept design and project planning before construction begins. “We’re very pleased to repurpose this facility for our clients, “ said Talley. “We want the success of this project to help build Talley Riggins reputation as a preferred partner and a pillar of excellence.”
Adds Riggins, “We’re encouraged by the continued growth in the Dallas/Fort Worth economy and we want to be part of the community and exciting developments happening in Dallas.”
